Clean water, white sand beaches, wildlife, nature and picturesque communities are the jewels of the Lake Huron Shores. A family vacation destination with activities and interests for all ages, this area is only a couple of hours drive from Toronto and most parts of Southwestern Ontario. Take in world famous sunsets, have a swim, go for a sail or fish the clean waters of Lake Huron, one of the five Great Lakes. These shores are also on the migratory path of a great variety of birds.The beautiful town of Owen Sound is the hub of this area.
From Owen Sound, one travels up the Bruce Peninsula, passing Wiarton (don't miss Willie!) ending up at Tobermory, where in season, you can take the Chi-Cheemaun car ferry to Manitoulin Island and Northern Ontario.
Discover Sauble Beach and its miles of sandy beach. Southampton has a timeless charm and is the oldest port on the Bruce Coast. Be sure to take in the offshore sight of the Chantry Island Lighthouse, still standing guard over the harbour entrance. Port Elgin is a home away from home offering a wide variety of retail stores and services as well as the search for the World's Largest Pumpkin. Inland lies the historic village of Paisley a village of many bridges.
Further south, Kincardine has interesting local architecture and a marine heritage. The operational lighthouse in the harbour area serves as the bellwether for marine navigation.
