As a proud northern resource-based community, Timmins has a long tradition in mining and lumbering. Called the "City with the Heart of Gold", it is, however, also a wonderful destination to visit twelve months of the year. See the Shania Twain Centre, Timmins Gold Mine Tour and Timmins Museum.
This entire area featutes miles of walking/biking trails, a wild life park, golf courses, provincial parks, hundreds of lakes, downhill and cross-country skiing along with endless snowmobile/ATV trails.
New Liskeard sits on beautiful Lake Temiscaming, while further North you can visit Kapukasing or Hearst for great canoeing and moose hunting.
