The Globetrotters Library
Warmth and comfort envelop you in this sanctuary filled with books and magazines that spark a traveller's imagination. This private nook is a favourite among guests who wish to spend time reading up on the news of the day over a fresh cup of coffee or tea or planning their next trip to some far corner of the world. Use our on-site computer to access the Internet or emails.
For the comfort of other guests, we do not accept children under the age of six unless all rooms are booked by family members or a group of friends travelling together.
A minimum two-night stay applies to all weekend bookings between May 15 and October 31 and to all holiday weekends year-round. OCCASIONALLY, HOWEVER, BECAUSE OF GUEST BOOKING PATTERNS, SINGLE WEEKEND NIGHT STAYS ARE POSSIBLE, SO PLEASE CHECK WITH US TO SEE IF A SINGLE NIGHT BOOKING IS AVAILABLE.
All rates are subject to 13% HST and apply regardless of age.
Globetrotters B&B was built by architect Dale Miller who incorporated colonial-style architectural details throughout the home. We purchased the home in February 2002, made a few changes and opened it up as a B&B in June 2002.
Niagara-on-the-Lake (2006 population 14,587) is a Canadian town located in Southern Ontario where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario in the Niagara Region of the southern part of the province of Ontario. It is located across the Niagara River from Youngstown, New York. It is also the only town in Canada that has a Lord Mayor.
The original site was a Neutral Nation village known as Onghiara. In 1781 the British government established Butlersburg, which later became known as West Niagara. Many of the first white inhabitants were loyal to Britain, and had fled during and immediately after the American Revolution.
In 1792 the village was incorporated as the Town of Newark and named the capital of the Province of Upper Canada. The town lost that distinction to York (now Toronto) in 1797, as Newark's proximity to the United States presented a danger. The town was renamed Niagara in 1798. During the War of 1812, American forces invaded Canada and captured (and later destroyed) the town before they withdrew following their abandonment of captured Fort George. The British rebuilt the town and today it has retained much of its historical charm. The present name was adopted around 1880 as a Postal Address to distinguish the town from Niagara Falls.
Niagara-on-the-Lake ("NOTL" or "N-O-T-L" in local shorthand) teems with many national and provincial historical plaques reflecting its significance in the establishment of many of the province's institutions. Among these were its first newspaper, lending library, parliament, historical museum, and governing body for the legal profession. Critical battles in the defence of Upper Canada took place here, at Queenston, including one in which heroine Laura Secord gained her fame. The town gave many black Americans their first taste of freedom, both as a stop on the Underground railroad for those travelling further into Upper Canada, and as a refuge in its own right. Its stock of Regency and Classical Revival buildings, considered the best in the country from the post-war of 1812 period, led the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada to recommend that the town's historic district be designated a National Historic Site of Canada, a designation which was approved in 2003.
Today, the town is home to the Shaw Festival, featuring the works of George Bernard Shaw, his contemporaries, or plays about his era (1856–1950), running from April to November. The festival operates three theatres in the centre of town and features one of a repertory acting company, scenic staff, and collection of resident and guest directors considered some of the best in the English-speaking world.

It all begins a continental plate of seasonal fresh fruits from around the world and yoghurt, home-baked croissants and your favourite cereal, all served with fresh juice and tea or coffee. Be sure to save room to enjoy Fernando's artistically presented hot breakfast entrée of the day.

The Crystal Palace cannot accommodate more than two persons at any time.

Booking Conditions

Rates are based on single or double occupancy and include accommodation, on-site parking, WiFi Internet access, laptop availability and full breakfast service daily. Up to four persons can occupy Le Moulin Rouge and Sultan's Tent suites. Additional rate of $40 per person applies regardless of age.

If you cancel with less than 5 days’ notice, we will do our best to rebook the room(s), but if we are unable to do so, a charge equal to one night’s stay will be applied on each room cancelled. |

Check In/Out Conditions: Check-in time is after 2 p.m. and checkout is 11 a.m. If you plan to arrive later than 5 p.m., please call us toll-free to let us know so we can plan accordingly. Otherwise, we will assume you will arrive between 2 and 5 pm.
Unfortunately, no check-out extensions can be provided from May 15 through October 31. However, we can store your bags and bikes for you. |
